Perfect for unwinding on a working sheep farm, with lovely rural views, yet close enough to town for a great coffee. This peaceful retreat sits halfway between Hobart and Launceston, offering easy access to world-class fly fishing, award-winning distilleries and natural attractions. With four bedrooms, luxurious king beds and a wood heater for cozy nights, it's the ideal base for exploring Tasmania's heartland.
Relax in authentic heritage surroundings with hand-sawn Tasmanian oak and local sandstone throughout. Four king-sized bedrooms (one with two long singles), all with feather quilts, merino wool blankets and house slippers provided. The main bedroom features a custom-made platform bed under hand-split timber board ceilings. Fully equipped kitchen with induction cooktop and copper cookware. Bespoke dining table crafted from reclaimed Tasmanian oak. Spacious lounge with plenty of couch space. Wood heater and heat pumps keep you warm on cold nights, firewood supplied. Stone courtyard with outdoor dining under olive trees. Views of the small lake where you might spot wild ducks, swans, even a platypus! Separate laundry with washer, dryer, iron (powder supplied). Wifi included.
You have the entire homestead to yourselves. This is a rare blend of 1820’s convict-built authenticity and thoroughly modern comfort. The property requires crossing a railway line to enter (infrequent trains, 2-4 per day - please obey railway signs). Fully fenced yard. Two stories with 12 wooden steps to upper-level bedrooms and bathrooms, not suitable for toddlers or those with mobility issues. However, babies are catered for with a travel cot and linen provided. Not pet friendly as it's a working sheep farm.
Eco-friendly retreat with sustainable practices. All products locally sourced from Tasmanian or Australian companies. Water comes from river and rainwater tank (please use mindfully). One kilometre frontage onto the Macquarie River for fly fishing enthusiasts.
